Ministry: Russia’s import replacement aircraft makes first flight
MOSCOW, Aug 29 (PRIME) -- The SJ-100, an edition of Russia’s Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft with locally produced systems and components, has made its first flight, the Industry and Trade Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The prototype of the SJ-100 short-haul aircraft, which was produced by the Yakovlev production center in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, has made its first flight. Stable operation of all of the national systems, maneuverability, and in-flight stability of the aircraft were confirmed during the tests,” the ministry said.
Imports of about 40 aircraft systems and components were substituted for the aircraft. At the same time, the prototype used the SaM146 French-Russian engines in order to speed up the flight tests, while the second prototype will have the Russian PD-8 engines installed. The latter engines are currently undergoing bench tests, the ministry said.
